This post is designed to help anybody who is visiting Singapore who would love to eat at a hawker but they don't know which ones to choose! I have got you!
Having lived in Singapore for the last 7 years, I have eaten at many food courts. They have all been good, as the food in Singapore is incredible, but if you don't have long enough to try out lots of them, I have written down a few of my favourites that you should try!
Lau Pa Sat

Lau Pa Sat has to be one of the most visually impressive hawkers I have been to in Singapore, and one of the most popular with tourists! The nearest MRT stations to Lau Pa Sat are Telok Ayer and Raffles Place MRT stations.
Lau Pa Sat was built in 1824 as a fish market on what was once the coastal road of Singapore (Beach Road). The market is one of the oldest Victorian building structures in South East Asia and is the only market left in Singapore that served the residents in this district in early Singapore.
This hawker is one of the most stunning historical buildings in Singapore, both inside and outside.
Lau Pa Sat is famous for its satay. At night, the hawker extends onto the street as they close it to traffic as it gets dark and set up tables and chairs on the road. The atmosphere here at night is like nothing I have seen before. However, be aware, it gets very busy! I was there on a Thursday night and it was packed! The satay stalls are set up on the side of the road and are definitely one of the most popular attractions of the hawker.

Price wise, Lau Pa Sat is generally slightly more pricey than other hawkers, however in comparison to a restaurant, you'll still be paying considerably less. If you are visiting Singapore, I strongly suggest going to this hawker.
My favourite drink is the lime juice, and definitely try the ginger tea to finish off your meal. Food wise, there are so many options and it really depends on what you prefer. However, there is such a wide range of options here, from Vietnamese to Thai, to Singaporean, Indian, Chinese food and so much more, you are bound to find something!
Maxwell Food Centre

Maxwell Food Centre is located near to ChinaTown. The closest MRT station is ChinaTown MRT station.
Once a wet market in the 1920's, Maxwell Food Centre is a now popular hawker and offers a wide range of food. Because of its close proximity to ChinaTown, it is a good option to eat at if you are exploring ChinaTown. However, unlike Lau Pa Sat, there is less of a range of cuisine options. If you are looking for good price, delicious Singaporean food, I recommend this hawker.

Some of the popular food stalls you can try:
Hainanese Curry Rice
Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice
Sisaket Thai Food
Tong Xin Ju Special Shanghai Tim Sum
Ramen Taisho
Gluttons By the Bay

Gluttons by the Bay is certainly a more popular tourist hawker, and it's price reflect this. However, that has not stopped me visiting this hawker multiple times.
This is because the hawker is located in a stunning spot, right on the bay, meaning it is very convenient for a dinner stop if you are around Marina Bay.
The food court opens at 4pm. The food is very good, I personally recommend the satay and the prata.

There is a good atmosphere at this hawker in the evening.
Again, the prices are slightly higher than they would be in less touristy hawker centres, but it is a really good experience if you are close Marina Bay.
Tekka Centre

The Tekka Centre is located in Little India and is a great option for Indian Food, especially if you are in Little India.
This hawker is a less touristy hawker, therefore the prices are more reflective of prices you will find in most hawkers in Singapore. There are so many options for food at this hawker, however I got the prata and it was really good.
I also recommend Masala The (Masala Tea).
Tiong Bahru Food Centre
Tiong Bahru centre is located in the middle of Tiong Bahru, just next to the neighbourhood where you can find all the art deco architecture. This hawker centre has such a wide variety of food. The hawker is located on the 2nd floor of the building, above the wet market. Much like the Tekka Centre, the prices at this hawker are also cheaper than the more touristy hawker centres.
